Many who have seen my posts will know i like my CD and Vinyl medium over the more insubstantial track downloads - but deciding to reduce my sources, the turntable has now gone and i am making a better shot at getting some downloads i have more organised. There are some older downloaded tracks that always sounded rubbish to me, you know the ones that always need the volume increasing and a have a certain flatness to them. Anyway today i decided to delete a few of these and re-purchase them from i-tunes now on the basis that the files are generally better quality nowadays. I then noticed if you right click you can make them into lossless files after purchase - never seen this before so i did that as well. Listening to these through the wadia dock and i-touch is now a huge improvement - i mean very noticeably better than the old files i had. That and the fact that my new Arcam rdac is knocking some spots off my old MF V-Dac has really helped me to see this as a good alternative alongside my CD player. I still like CD when i want to listen to a whole album which is my preferred way, but when you just like a few tracks from an artist then i am very impressed with lossless and the Arcam rdac.
