Hi . Probably a daft question ? I have audiolabs cdt9000 with 4" lcd screen with a screen protector applied . Do most of us remove these or can they be left on ?

You'll probably find that's simply a bit of flexible plastic as opposed to a proper screen protector, I would remove it as it will look tatty later on, but it's pretty much up to you.

As Al says, it simply factory applied to protect during shipping and unboxing. However, it’s surprising how many used items still have these bits in place. (I recently stayed in a holiday cottage and the sellotape-like packing strip around the TV was peeling off. However, it had probably been like that for a year)
