Im very new to this LCD game but have read frequent articles/ forum posts regarding clouding, light bleeding in from corners.

now before i take the plunge and buy my first LCD(hooray for me) what is the general consensus on this matter.

I will be purchasing from amazon.

1.is the general feeling regarding clouding that its just your luck ?

2. can you return a tv due to clouding or light bleeding?

3. most tv's have a standard warranty, does it depend on the manufacturer, or is there a general standard warranty? (told you i was new to this)

4. and finally is it considered that at one point during the lifespan of an LCD that bleeding will happen?

thanks for the responses in advance!

1. yes

2 Yes if your buying of amazon you have 14day to return anything(distance selling laws)

3 dunno

4 NO It will be there when brand new if its going to be there.

5 My set bleeds a little but i can only tell when there is a solid colour over the entire screen EG a menu! its never botherd me and nobody else has ever noticed

Go on buy one! ;-)

i can only imagine that if i do get clouding and return it i'll probably get another one with clouding!!

so its really just luck? damn i suppose i will chance it, but i just want it to be perfect!!

I'd go to John Lewis - when my LCD was bleeding (on purchase) they brought me a brand new one, fitted it, had a look, acknowledged that the new one was worse, took it away again. That's what I call service......

unfortunately from what i have gathered the tv i want wont be pricematched due to a difference in codes! scandal indeed.

so its at a much higher price than i have seen it for on amazon.

if i get the tv from amazon and buy say a 2/3 year warranty will the warranty cover the clouding so that i can return it as often as the problem occurs?

thats great service i must admit and im kinda swaying to that, as im sure the service is worth the 70 pounds price difference, well that and the 5 year warranty!

70 quid? Oh yeah, definitely buy from John Lewis. Unlike online retailers, they have actual real people in a real shop that you can go and talk to in the event of a problem. Unlike many (most?) retailers, they also tend to be polite to their customers too. The extended warranty definitely er.. warrants the additional spend.

I definatly agree with the idea of buying from a shop, peace of mind that you have somewhere you can actually take it back to if it does go wrong, especially in this day and age of things not being built to last. Also go to the trading standards website,i think it is the consumer rights act of 1976(might have the year wrong).I got my lcd screen fixed for nothing after the guarantee ran out.Not sure if the law has changed or not

Purchase from John Lewis as all TV's they sell come with a free 5 year warranty. Nuff said!
