Hi Guys,

Need your experience here.

I just moved to a new house andgot offered some mordaunt short perf 6 at a very good price.

Question is will they work in my room: it' s 3.5 meter by 5m?

Even worse: layout wise I'd prefer to have the speakers at the long wall.

Do you think it can work in such a small space or should I look at standmounts?

I think the bigger concern is what amp you have to drive them with. The Performance 6s are VERY revealing and need extremely good amplification to sound their best. Hopefully Clare Newsome will be along with more advice as IIRC she has a pair of these speakers.

FWIW, when I was invited to the towers to take part in the Big Q, I heard the MS Performance 6 as a surround set-up. The amplification was Arcam. As Matthew says they do need a good current, so I'd be looking at adding a power amp to your FMJ.

Also, I think Clare has (or had) a Leema Tucana....

Ok, so the general consensus so far seems that in my situation having an amp that can handle the speakers is of more concern then the room dimensions. That's a releave as I was concerned that the bass would overpower in such a situation.

I'll keep your advice in mind. First I'm gonna make an appointment. If the deal is succesful, I'll begin searching for a power amp.

Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.
