The Creative T20, rrp £60, but available for £44 from Amazon and PC World.
Absolutely amazing bargain for the money, the sound is incredible for £44. I feel the mki are better built, the mkii more stylish. Travel well to, I took a pair to Portugal with an MP3 player. They have two inputs, one on back for laptop soundcard, and one on front for MP3 player.
They are in a completely different league to typical £20 computer speakers, and sound far closer to a proper hifi setup than I'd ever have thought possible (8000s, MA 9's, CD-63 KI mkii). Amazing bass for the size, in a tight controlled way you would not have expected. Reasonable stereo sound stage also. Need a good run in period tho (24 hours use before you judge them), and can fill a small/medium size room very well. Good upgrade for TV speakers etc. Very loud with a proper line out source. All round a very flexible nice speaker system.
Another alternative AudioEngine 2 ($199).
Or the Aego M 2.1 - £90 to £105. Checkout reviews on amazon.
Or for something completely different, and more expense, Yamaha M170 micro system (CD/DAB/Amp, seen recently for £120/130) with Q1010i Speakers (£88) or Clearance priced Tangent Evo speakers (£39), gives more hi-end quality.
