Lacking bass?

Hi,

I finally got my set up sorted

Pioneer VSX 421 A/V

Q Acoustic concept 20 speakers with matching stands

All connected via hdmi

But I seem to lack some bass and other times the sound seems distorted.. I know it's not the speakers because I've tested them with another amp

Could it be my hdmi leads as they are just basic leads? Or is it because I just have a basic vw-1 300v 18awg speaker wire?

Or do I simply just need to get a seperate sub to boost the bass?

It's worth checking that you have the speakers correctly connected to your receiver (positive to positive etc) - as far as bass goes you will probbaly need to look at a sub to give low down bass with movies. Also have to run any calibration to set your speakers up correctly?

Hi Yes I triple checked the posi and neg were matched up and I have set up the receiver to f.s.s setting which is the selection for front facing speakers only so all the power goes to those, when I listen to something like London grammar etc the sounds beautiful, but I suppose I will need to get me a sub for movies etc
