Hi all
Have just purchased these "retro" phones for use with a Sony NWZ-A818 as the bundled in ear buds seem to be allergic to me and the sound is starting to deteriorate in the upper midrange.
I listen to all sorts of music which are all downloaded at 320kbps + and all I can say about the Koss' is WOW!!! Although they are not fully run-in yet, after a few settings tweaks, I can honestly say it's the best £22.00 I've ever spent.
The bass is deep and rounded without sounding wooly or lacking edge of note definition, the treble is bright and unmuddled without being harsh or strident but it's the mid range and vocals which are a true revelation. I can now pick out individuals in the backing singers vocals and the raw passion in Elkie Brooks voice on some tracks of Pearls 2 is quite staggering. On Run Like Hell from Pink Floyds "Delicate Sound of Thunder" live album (which I thought I knew intimately) I've just discovered the Dr. Who theme tune being played - never knew it was there before.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend these phones as they are very comfortable, fantastic for eyeglass wearers due to it's design, fold up into the size of a tennis ball and are supplied with a carry bag and a 6.5mm gold plated adapter. They have a lifetime guarantee and replacement ear pads are available at very reasonable prices but most of all they sound AWESOME.
Best Regards.
