With regards to the shelf positioning, no mention has been made regarding proximity to a rear wall.

Note that the LS50 and Ref 1 are rear ported, but the D2 has a front facing port. Will this have a significant bearing on their performance at home?

How were the speakers mounted and positioned at the demo?

I'm also interested in the Reference One as a possible replacement for a large pair of PMC OB1i's. It's supposed to be in another league to the LS50 even with a well matched sub.

Well.. I could not fault the Ls50's - to my ears they were no million miles from the Kef Refs - I have better amplification at home than what was currently on offer in the shop mind.. - The ref 1's will probably show their worth then I would imagine..

If I were to go ahead with the shelf idea they could come out up to 15 inches from rear wall - i suspect the Proacs front port would work better in regards to my placement - in the shop they were some 2 feet from rear wall on Atacama HMS 2.1's

Its all subjective until I get them in my room and to try and replicate the shelf option
