interested to hear how they compare to the old version for musical capabilities.
should I buy old at discounted price or invest in the newer?

If you're interested in streaming from Spotify etc, it may be worth the cost to get the newer model.

I use tidal predominantly but sometimes switch to deezer or Amazon music if there is a offer. However I intend to still use my Yamaha wxad-10 which I currently have in my separates. So I’m thinking this will do away with the app issues reported on the originals. My query is do the newer versions trump the older in music. They pretty much the same in hardware it’s just this revised DSP they talk about that has me hovering.

Where streaming devices don’t offer ongoing upgrades - one reason I favour Linn DS models - the newer the better. I’m not sure you would get the best from the KEFs with your Yamaha would you, as that’s getting on a bit too. But they weren’t upgraded with Meta, unlike the LS50w.
