Hi All,

What should be the ideal distance / separation between KEF IQ90 speakers in (meters) please.

Is there any standard to be followed ?

The usual rule to follow is to either be further away from the speakers than the distance between them, or be equal distance from them - just imagine an equilateral triangle. Use a piece of string pinned to the listening position to make sure the distance is correct.

Thanks mate.

Just to clarify i am trying to achive best stereo imaging and presence.

I'd keep them away from the side walls - if they're too close you'll get HF reflection. Also, the closer you put a speaker to the back wall, the more it is using the wall to 'boost' it's bass output - the less you boost the bass, the more accurate the sound is going to be, which should allow you the maximum amount of detail and best imaging. All this can be lost if the bass is being accentuated.

Whats a good distance for the speakers from the back wall ?

I could give you a recommendation, but it'll be different in most rooms. Suffice to say, you can place them much closer than most other brands on the market. Put them about a metre into the room, then move them back a few inches at a time and see how this affects the sound - once you hear the midrange and treble losing three dimensionality, you've gone too far. Although, due to personal tastes, some people may like a little more bass, so it's a case of finding a trade off that works for you.
