Quick question folks.

I have KEF IQ5SEs as front speakers and an IQ2c centre. I'm not overly impressed with the IQ2c as a centre and heard good things about the IQ6c.

As it's now discontinued, I've been watching fleabay for second hand kit - but crikey it's not cheap! Some of the secondhand IQ6c's are nearly going for brand new IQ60c prices!

So

Keep looking for IQ6c's to match my IQ5SE's

or

Buy brand new IQ60c. Is it as good as the IQ6c and will it match my other speakers?

cheers folks.

I have the iQC centre speaker in our speaker (had the Q2C), it is very very good however I have not compared this the the iQ60C.

If you can get the 6C at a sensible price (you're choice there I'm afraid) I don't think you will be disappointed, I have found the centre vocals and sound dispersion to be re excellent

OK then, nothing definitive.

I've spotted a good deal on a new IQ60C in light oak (nearly maple in colour). I've decided to commit and buy this over a second hand IQ6c (same price!). Salesman said it's better - but then he would!

I'll let you know what I think when I compare with my existing IQ2c.

Jason,

I sourced my IQ60C in light oak veneer from SuperFi for £299.99 inc delivery. The wood veneer options are being dropped by KEF - perhaps that's why they were being sold cheap. I've been watching Fleabay for a second-hand IQ6C in maple, but they attract nearly new IQ60C money. The light oak veneer is close to maple, but in sunlight is out by a couple of shades. Maybe look to stain closer to the maple in the future ...

Initial impressions are that it is both physically and sonically much bigger than the IQ2c. The size and weight makes it much closer to the IQ5SEs it sits between. I've read somewhere the best centre is the same speaker as your fronts - this goes some way to proving it.

Early days on final approval - I've yet to re-run the speaker setup (hopefully tonight). As said above, I already do notice a stronger centre presence. Hopefully I've made a wise purchase.
