KEF 2005.2- any good for stereo?

Been offered a pair of these and they would look quite good on my desktop but would they be a decent match with my Cyrus 6vs2/DAC Magic/Cyrus DAD3Q.

My MS Mezzo 2 look a bit big to the wife!!

The KEFs are decent enough for stereo use, but I'd say your Cyrus electronics deserve far better.

What about if I add a suberwoofer for the KEFs? As long as I can hide it under my desk then no problems-

Nah; save the money and get a pair of decent speakers - check out a few online and see what she reckons. I see that Superfi has the new Q Acoustics 2050 in gloss white....

Not quite. You could always drop your floor to keep them in line with whatever you're looking at though...anyway, joking aside, have you seen the Q Acoustics 1010i? A penny off £40 in Richer Sounds and Superfi too I think.

I'd be inclined to suggest that the 2050s are some way better than you've got; KEF or MS.

Academic debate given TOH has probably kyboshed the option and they're not desktop speakers in any case!

As it happens, I have the Mezzo 2s and the Kef 2005.2s in my house. I can assure you that the 2005.2s will sound pretty dire compared to the Mezzos for music - on my amp switching between the two for music is like chalk and cheese (and that's with an old yamaha surround amp and a PS3 playing the music)!

The only really small speakers that I have found sound any good are the Anthony Gallo A'Divas, preferably with a sub (but are ok without, at a push).

Try convicing the wife to let you place the Mezzos either side of the desk on stands, perhaps?
