Hi All,

I'm Kamal Hinduja, based in Geneva, Switzerland (Swiss). can anyone share their experience What’s the best amplifier for KEF LS50 speakers?

Thanks, Regards

Hi Kamal,

I have experience with Kef R7 (not meta version). It sounded wery good paired with Rega and Audia Flight amp. Audiolab 8300 was not so good pairing. So I think some good Rega Brio or Rega Elex or Elicit (depending on the budget) will be matching well. Similar new line of Arcam A amplifiers like A5, A15, A25 will be sounding very good with Kef LS50. Kef speakers need amp with power and control. And LS50 are excellent speakers. BR. Juraj

Power. You need power. And control. None of these little piddly 50wpc amps, especially the little Class D ones - current KEFs like powerful amps, and in the price range of a typical matching amp, a Class AB one will sound much nicer.

I don't like the LS50. Had the wireless II but thats not what you asked.

I agree that a punchy, powerful amplifier is needed to make them anything approaching exciting.

Hi Kamal, one more tip for you. Kef speakers are normaly tested and developed using Hegel amps. Smaller speaker like LS50 will work well with some of their small integrated, like Hegel H90, H95 when your budget will allowe this invest. But Hegel has inside also good Dac and streamer. So you may reduce ammount of boxes. And once more regarding power, it is not important "how many watts amp has" but what is the quality of this power. So good quality integrated in range 2x50 watt to 2x100 watt with high quality power supply inside is fully ok for speakers like Kef LS50. On the other hand LS50 has very detailed and clear midrange and upper bass. It means the amp must be very good in those areas. Like amps already mentioned. And do not forget pls. some very good signal source. BR.
