Question Just one output.

Why do CD players only have one analogue output? I am looking to spend loads of money on a SACD, But my amp has no balanced inputs. I have a CD recorder. (for the car). And I want to enjoy them both. So, I want to connect SACD to the recorder, and the amp, (obviously). But this is against all the laws of hi-end kit. It's not difficult is it? Yes, I am going to replace the amp, but it will take around two years. Please don't suggest more spaghetti.

Some CD players have more than one analogue out - my old Arcam did. SACD doesn't have to have balanced connections I think - my OPPO outputs SACD on ordinary phonos.

But you can't output digital from an SACD player to prevent copying.

If your player is only bog-standard CD, it should read the CD layer that exists on most SACD's, not the hi-res layer. Never tried it, but that might not be copy-restricted in the way that the hi-res layer will be.

If you want two outputs, you need more spaghetti. Only other option is to burn CD-r discs on a computer.

My CD is an old Cambridge Audio AZUR 640C. With a reluctant disc tray. It has to go. Sorry, JJ Just read your suggestion,. Will a splitter reduce signal? Or worse signal bounce?

O.K. I just ordered TWO splitters (male to two males) They are advertised as being a sub-woofer conections.

You mean by analogue means to both?
Obviously, CD recorders are mainly about digital input - but they also have analogue inputs.
So if you wanted to, you could have analogue from SACD to both CD recorder and amp - by putting a tape output from your amp into the analogue input of the CDR.

But from your fault description of your Cambridge CDP, I think it's quite likely that all you might need is the part shown below.
