Just bough a new pair of Audeze LCD-X while I was on holiday outside UK :bounce:

However I have not done any audition when I bought it :shhh: . Presently I am using HD800 and hope this LCD-X will not let me down.

I have problem of uploading photos here but you may wish to see this link on my LCD-X:

I wonder if anyone here have ever compare the performance of HD800 and LCD-X ???

I think you will find the LCD-X different enough that it's very much worth keeping. When you hear the sound coming from the large planar surfaces with bass so well controlled yet 'bigger' somehow than the HD800, you will be amazed. But don't get rid of the HD800.

I demo'd a set and was hugely impressed, produced an involuntary grin immediately! But I think setup is even more important than normal with planars (I think). What are you using to drive them?

I have two headphone amplifiers, one is Fidelity Audio HPA-200 SE while the other is Yulong A18. Both are great amps and have sufficient power to drive any kind of headphones with wonderful sound quality. As to CDP I am using Marantz CD-63 that I have heavily modded myself. This CDP is much better than my previously owned Leema Antila IIS and eventually I get rid of the Leema in eBay 🙂

I'd love to know what you've done to your CD 63, if you wouldn't mind talking about it. I have a CD7 and I also have the Leema, which is a better player than the Marantz by quite a margin in my opinion. Might it be worth looking at upgrading the CD7 before I sell it on?

If you know how to do DIY just follow what had been discuused in the followng link. Mind you there are more than 2000 pages of discussions 🙂

I mod my CD63 by changing the stock component of the CD63 with top of the grade parts costing me over a 1000 pounds. It is worthwhile as the SQ is much much better than my previously owned Leema Antila IIs.
