Is this worth £15?

On my tour around the charity shops yesterday I came across a copy of Joni Mitchell “Court and Spark” and considered purchasing it until I realised the price tag said £15 and not £1.50, so after confirming with the shop assistant that the price was correct I replaced it in the rack.
This was definitely a second hand copy although the sleeve was in excellent condition, anyone have any ideas as to why it was £15?
I purchased three albums at £1.50 each, 10cc “Sheet Music”,
U2 “The Unforgettable Fire” and
Dire Straits “Love Over Gold”.
The first two play with little surface noise and the Dire Straits is better than the one I bought from EIL.

Some charity shops (no names mentioned) seem to think that all vinyl is to be charged at premium prices, can't blame them for trying to get as much as they can, but some prices are really silly.

Court and spark usually goes for around a tenner.

Maybe if it was original pressing with gatefold sleeve, but my copy's a later release with no gatefold and I'd be astonished if it was worth more than a couple of quid.

Have a look at the MusicStack or Gemm websites for an indication, but like the others, I'd be inclined to suggest a tenner at most for a first edition pressing. She was on Reprise in the 70s, this album wasn't early doors in her career and while the first pressing label may be different from the later ones, they're not in short supply. Scarcity pricing for a mint one maybe, but scout around and you'll see enough out there for less.

I considered buying it as I thought it was £1.50 and I have no Joni Mitchell on LP or CD, just a couple of tracks on the Ipod. The most I've paid at a charity shop was £2.95. I'm not sure I would have paid £2.95 for this though.

I've just listened to this off Spotify through headphones and £2.95 would be my limit, definitely not £15. I will give it another listen but I think it's one of those albums that I should have got into in 1974 but somehow it passed me by, my girlfriend of the time was into something else probably.

I quite like Joni Mitchell, but you do have to be in the right mood for her work I think. That said, the Hissing of Summer Lawns album is worth a look, likewise, Blue, Mingus...and of her later work her Night Ride Home album on Geffen is definitely worth hearing. The title track alone makes it worth the cost of purchase (usually a fiver in Fopp).
