Is this denon receiver worth £40

Hi all my Yamaha ax 396 as desided call it a day.so I'm on the lookout for a cheap replacement on the second hand market. I got about £150 to spend on it but it needs to have a tape monitor on it. I have been offered a denon dra 455 receiver for £40 is this receiver any good. Thanks

If you're lucky you should be able to get one of these for less than £30. Regardless only if that's the model you want. I have no experience of it. Although you should be able to get a Sony STR-DB930 for circa £50 which I can recommend. More power and a built in dac also and sounds great. Got two of them myself.

Thank you for your response I had a look the Sony STR-DB930 but it's 5.1 I only need a stereo receiver. it needs to have a tape monitor so I can contact my old Pioneer graphic equaliser. Thanks

Unless you need a radio, I can't see the DRA455 being any drastic improvement over your Yamaha. They were both around the £200 mark when new, and the Yamaha might have a bit more power on offer. Is there a reason you need shot of the Yamaha?
