yesterday i was moving around my speakers , tv etc , experimenting with room accoustics ..

anyhow , i pushed my tv right up against the window , so i could then move my speakers closer to the wall , just to see what they would sound like there..

result ? surprised , they sounded bright , lispy , not at all good , i thought they would sound more bassy there ?

anyway , something occured to me , all my power cables and speaker cables were squashed up together against the wall , hmmm , i thought , could it be interference [li] [:O] , i guess its possible ?

so i pulled the tv out , no cables or wires were out , or loose , and im sure the speakers sounded better , not as lispy as before .. anyway ive got everything positioned where i want it now , further away from the wall as i originally had it , and its all sounding great [:)]..

what im left wondering is possibly irrelevant , at least for me , as my tv is staying where it is , the cabling behind it has room to breathe , and im happy with everything ..

but , for those who have to have their tvs up against a wall , and have all their cables squashed in behind , i wonder if there really is some value in having shielded cables (did i just type that [:$]) , is it in this type of situation that they may prove their worth i wonder ???

Most of what you were hearing would've been to do with the speakers position in relation to the wall. Even moving a speaker an inch can have a dramatic difference sometimes. The position of furniture around them can affect how they sound too. In fact, shift everything out from in between the speakers and they'll sound different again!

But I'd only recommend that if you're bored, as it's a very boring and tedious thing to do. It's still more interesting than watching Alice in Wonderland though.

I would assume that would depend on whether they're rear-ported or not?
