Leema's website doesn't say anything about a mk2 of this amp and cdp, but I've read on some sites that there are updated models which are imminent - has anyone heard anything else about this?

There is a picture floating around somewhere on the net of the Tucana 2.

I emailed Leema about it as I am interested in getting a Corvus and Hydra for 5.1 duties but they haven't replied (been about two weeks). Was thinking of phoning one of the dealers advertising the Tucana 2 and seeing what they knew.

Considering that the current versions are pretty phenomenal, it just made me wonder what an updated model would be like!

Found it.

Not released yet. One of my friends spoke to the local Leema dealer today and they reckon everything is being announced at the Munich show.

Do you know if anything was announced? I haven't read anything that hints there was an announcement, but they probably only want to announce them when they're fully ready to buy at their network of distributors

I asked at the end of Andrew's blog and neither Claire nor Andrew saw anything from them. I found a list of exhibitors online and they aren't on it so I guess they weren't there!

Guess we'll have to wait and see....

I also emailed Leema about this and they advised me -

Antila II and Tucana II are already shipping. Existing Antilas can be upgraded for £500 + VAT. Tucana II is a completely new design.

I recieved that email on the 03/03/09.

I think I have also mentioned this before on here - but they are also wotking on a new reference CD player which will have 100 dacs. Crazy amount of dacs considering the antila has 20 and the other plater has 16.

100 dacs!! that's really applying the law of averages to new levels (at least I thought that was the logic behind the use of loads of them!)

Interesting. Will call my local dealer tomorrow and see what they say.

I'd really like to know if they are updating the Corvus and the Hydra to the new specs as well. I can't decide between a Leema surround setup or a Yamaha Z11.

I phoned Leema today and they were very friendly and informative.

The Tucana 2 is available now and has completely new technology which comes from the design of the Reference system. The aim was to provide more "air, detail and speed" to the sound. No real increase to the power, the changes were all about the presentation.

The Antila 2 is also available now and the old version is upgradeable.

Corvus and Hydra are not planned to be updated at present but probably will be late next year with the Hydra possibly being "mono-blocable".

I had a two hour audition of the (rather expensive!) reference system last week. It is truly phenomenal, really open soundstage and smooth sound. We made the whole shop shake to the Prodigy (and we were in the cellar!). The Altair IV's are absolute monsters.

Ended up with a Pyxis and a Hydra (Altair's a bit too rich for me!). Will look to a 5.1 system with the MA Platinum's next year I think.

Hey Voodoo

Do you not need to have 2 hydra's to get the best out of the pyxis.

Do you mind me asking how much you paid for the pyxis - is it like £4500?

I was thinking about getting the pyxis but thought you would need 2 hydra, which i think would cost me in total about 10k or 9k, expecting i would get 1k for my Tucana.

How much are the altairs going for?

Cheers
