My iMac has all of a sudden slowed right down and maybe just a coincidence but I got a screen pop up from mackeeper saying I had tons of junk files, can I trust this and I should I pay money to clear these junk files or can anyone share a better alternative. Thankyou

If your Mac has slowed down, make sure you have at least 10% disk space free. Go to the utility's folder in apps, open disk utility and check your disk permissions. Don't keep lots of files on your desktop as your Mac renders quicklooks for everything on desktop and keeps it stored in ram. Try leaving it running over night. OS X has lots of background scripts for clearing cashes and logs etc but if you use your Mac for short periods at a time they may not be running.

Hope this helps :)
