Is it the dac?

Well. I bought one of those Fiio Taishan DACs and connected it to my tv and amp. It is powered by usb connected to the tv and I am using the optical connection

I’m having an issue where I’m hearing a crack coming through the speakers when the amp is on and everything else is turned off.

Is the dac somehow causing this even though there is no power going to it? Or have I got another issue?

Unplug all sources and see if it persists. Keep plugging back in unitl you hear an issue.

It’s definitely the dac causing the noise. Is there anything to do to stop this?

Return it as faulty I guess. If another unit is the same then I'd suggest a different solution.
