i recently bought black speakers , just made sense seeing as all my other kit is black .. black marantz cd 6003 to be added sat morning

Talking about speaker finish - different designs can look good or not so good. What I definately do not like is silver-coloured circles around drivers on speakers of any finish (and many designs now are like this). I think they can make even otherwise stuningly finished speaker look cheap.
