Is Atmos actually reducing the sound quality of flagship AV receivers?

There's a 35% import tariff on foreign hi-fi etc. electronics imported into the US from the UK (and, I presume, until tomorrow at least) from all EU countries.
The EU presumably reciprocates by slapping 35% on the cost of similar goods imported from the US.
