I have over 150 albums on my IPod Classic. However after someone in the family decided to reformat my PC, my ITunes account has gone.

I downloaded ITunes again, however now everytime I connect my IPod Im informed that my classic will be wiped clean and I will lose all my music.

Is thier anyway I can get the music from my Ipod back onto my PC,so I can download more music onto the Ipod..

Thanks for any advice.

sharepod is a nice alternative, but is PC only. Its a .exe that runs from your ipod in disk mode, so you don't need to install anything on a friends machine to transfer music.

go into my docs

create new folder "Pod Music" (or whatever you like).

connect iPod

if itunes starts - close it down

click on the drive you have plugged the iPod into (F drive etc.)

click tools/folder options/view then tick "show hidden files"

go into ipod then find folder called "control" and lots of files marked F00 to F50 (etc)

Drag these into folder "Pod Music"

disconnect pod once copied

go into itunes

click on "add folder" and select "Pod Music"

obviously only do this to re-upload your own music. Using this to copy across someone else's music files is both naughty and illegal.
