I'm currently toying with the idea of buying an Iomega network hard drive, which supports iTunes. Does anybody know if my iPhone would be able to 'see' the iTunes library on it, so I could stream it to my receiver via bluetooth? Any help would be greatly appreciated as it would save me around £100 to find out myself. Cheers.

There is an free app available called Plug Player that you could use to see to the NAS box on the iPhone and 'push' music to another device, though I don't know whether this would support Bluetooth streaming, I use it over WiFi to push music from my NAS to my Ethernet connected AVR.

If Bluetooth doesn't work you could connect the iPhone to the Marantz through a dock or audio cable and use it to 'read' the files on the NAS - this all depends on whether the NAS supports DLNA by the way!

Hope this helps

Cheers Sreamer. The Iomega does support DNLA, and I can plug the iPhone directly into the Marantz, so I'll have a look at that App, thanks.

Nads, what I want to be able to do is play my lossless iTunes collection through my reciever without having to have my main computer on, which is in my home office. I know I could plug a FAT 32 HDD directly into the Marantz, but I don't think it supports Apple lossless files, so I was kinda hoping an Iomega network drive and my iPhone would make a convenient solution. Otherwise it looks like a new 160gb iPod could be the easiest solution, just a bit frightened my current 120gb lossless music collection out grows it too soon.

so what you are asking is can you wirelessly stream from the NAS to the iPhone and then use the iPhone to play the music via Blue Tooth to the Amp?(or usb)

dont think you can.

but it would be interesting.

I go NAS -> Philips NP1100 -> Amp controlled via Plug Player on the iPhone, works a treat!

yep I use a Squeezebox and control it with my iPhone.

but not using iTunes.

Thanks for the heads up on Plug Player, success! Went out and bought the drive, then stupidly wirelessly dragged & dropped my 120gb music folder onto it. 20 hours later (!!!), the drive contained all my music. I then downloaded the Plug Player app, and successfully bluetoothed the music to my receiver. Thanks for your help folks, I can now finish work at night and listen to a few different tunes without having to get up out of my chair, which I usually end up falling asleep in.
