iPad with Spotify

I am considering buying an iPad. One of the main reasons would be to run spotify through my hi-fi.

I have an Airport Express linked to a Rega DAC into Arcam A80 and Mission speakers. My system is at the front of the house but my desktop is at the back. Although this is fine for using the Mac for surfing it is an old house with thick walls and when streaming spotify to the mac via wi-fi and then to the Express it suffers from regular dropouts. My wife does have a Macbook and with this downstairs we rarely get any dropout and the sound is very good but recently my wifes work has changed and she works a lot from home in the evenings using her Macbook so I am not able to use spotify.

I know there is not a dedicated iPad app at the moment and that airfoil is also not for the iPad (except as a 'speaker').

Would Spotify on the iPad run as on the iPhone namely via Airplay? I do have an iPhone and it works well with my set-up but I also take a lot of work calls out of hours, streaming spotify from it drains the battery and is not great when taking calls!

Yes, though can't say I've tried it, since Mrs JD hasn't authorised the purchase yet...😉

Getting authorisation is part of the problem, not the sort of purchase that will go unnoticed! Hope to persuade her it will mean I will leave her Macbook alone
