Internet take me to another site?

Hey sometimes when I click on a link in google EG. Paypal. it takes me to william hill betting?

I ran spyware search and destroy, my own security and malwarebytes and nothing?

Any ideas why it does this sometimes, all pop up blockers off as well, but its not a pop up it actually takes me to a advertisement for william hill and not Paypal.

Is the link in Google you are clicking on a "Sponsored link" where William Hill have bought a Google adword? Like M&S flowers have bought the "Interflora" adword - currently the subject of legal action by Interflora.

I just typed in "paypal" in Google, and the first link is a "sponsored link" to "paypal-business.co.uk" but the actual link (if you check on it) starts: http://www.google.co.uk/aclk? - which is AdWords payed for link...

Why not use something like 'Adblock plus'...

(Obviously it is for Firefox. If you use IE then I guess you have to live with this sort of thing.)

I have just clicked on all of them again and they all take me to paypal.

Very strange as the first time I did it it went to william hill

+1 on that - I have it installed, I had to load IE to look at this issue!

I have firefox and have been using adblock for years, but its still happening.

It's not just you. This happened twice to me now. Once yesterday. I was confused as to what had happened because I returned to google (thinking I'd clicked the wrong link) re-clicked Paypal (the second, proper link - not sponsored - to paypal.co.uk) and all was OK.
However, I've just done the same today and the same thing; william hill site appears; not a pop up but a direct link to their site. Rather worrying!!Second attempt goes directly to paypal as it should.
