Not really for the OP who already has a new pair of Emit 20, but for anyone else looking to build a system around these speakers.
The Lyd 7 uses very similar drive units in an enclosure of similar size, but is fully active. The crossover is performed in dsp which allows the crossover point to be moved clear of the critical midband, improving clarity and increasing power capability.
The dsp is also used to 'tune' the bass to gain a little extra extension and to modify the loading (damping) on the bass driver to allow for easier positioning with regard to room boundaries. Altogether a much more sophisticated implementation of the basic design than the passive models. Twin 50 watt amplifiers drive the bass and treble units direct, no passive crossovers in the way, so real world power capabilities are much higher than any regular 50 watt amplifier.
Altogether a more potent, bolder presentation than you might expect given their approx £1000 price tag, just add a dac/preamp or a streamer pre-amp to complete your system, prices start at just £1250 plus stands and cables.
