integrated amps with pre outs

A friend has asked me to find out if adding a power amp to an integrated with preouts means that the integrated can just be used as a pre amp with out the need for bi amping..........ive had pre power amps in the past but never used an integrated as a pre amp, so i couldnt give him an immediate answer..........i knew someone on here could help...........thanks guys

I have pre outs on my amp if I wanted to by amp do you need the same amping power as my marantz pm8005 as I still got my pm6005 I no its not got the same power as the 8005 ? As marantz do not make a power amp unless I am thinking wrong on the power amp side of things. But interested in give it a go as I have never done by amping before

. Ok thank you I see them but a bit confused why do they say AV power amps for are they meant for home cinema use only

Only just noticed this thread.

Yes, you can bi-amp pretty much any power amp to any integrated. When I had my Arcam I toyed with the notion of using P80 - Mrs. P wasn't keen as it was adding another box.

Wherever possible try and use the same make power amp that matches the integrated. Always good to have matching aesthetics and a common remote. Also when bi-amping you'll need to bi-wire the speakers to make the most of it.

Bi-amping not required apparently ...
