But based on what I have heard: (and suitably massive budget)

Turntable (Big Old Japanese DD or Modded Lenco/Garrad Idler Drive)

Massive KT88/KT120 PP Valve Amp and Valve Pre/Phonostage

Magnepan/Apogee/Quad 57 Panel Speakers

For me the system you need to be open and detailed with a hint of colour to the presentation. I don't particularly gravitate wo warm, nor do I like an absolute neutral sounding kit, either.

It's really difficult to convey, but my set-up comes the closest to my ideal sound, in terms of sonic balance: The Pulse is a neutral amp, speakers are neutral to cold, and the sources are smooth. Although the MAs can sound a tad mechanical on poor recordings, when they're good it is staggering.

Sorry, this really doesn't answer your question directly, but any system that falls into that jibberish. :)

Source has to be CD for me and prob wouldn't change the EMC1UP, but ideal amplification would be a valve pre, something like a Graaf and a Sugden Masterclass power amp, or an Electrocompaniet pre/power combo. If integrated, would love to try a Pathos Inpol.

As for speakers, must admit the more I read about Magnipan really curious to hear some. Other than that would probably try the larger Harbeths.

Sorry, couldn't decide on just one amp or speaks!

Hi moon

Source - record player (Rega RP6/Apheta)

Amplification - transistor pre amp (ATC SCA2/SPH2)

Speakers - active (ATC SCM300ASL professional monitors and SCM0.1/15 professional sub)

All the best
