good to see him drive the 6R4 but it has nothing to do with the Mini.

other than BL thinking the Metro would replace the Mini, which it failed to do and they dropped the Mini out of the name not long after launch.

Trainspotterly, but wrong from start to finish. The Metro was never meant as a Mini replacement, but as a step-up model, and BL was forced to use the Mini name to get round objections by busmaker Metro Cammell, which was obviously concerned BL's small car would be confused for one of its buses, so it had to be promoted as the 'Mini Metro'.

However, good to see how well the new BMW 'Mini' remains faithful to the spirit of the Issigonis original, eh?

Comparing with the Mini Countryman is a bit misleading...

As Minis have become less mini, so have we...

Relatively speaking, I'm not sure we've gained any notable headroom, unless we choose the Countryman. We're more spoilt for legroom, however.

Next-gen one, due this year, gets even porkier: 3821mm long, 1727mm wide and 1414mm high, or 98mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm taller than its predecessor
