Right decided upon which iPod to get the missus for Crimbo and got her the 32gb Touch, and being the forward thinking fella I am downloaded i-Tunes so that I can transfer all her CD's etc in advance so come Cristmas day all I have to do is sync the songs etc to her i-Pod.

Now upon installing i-tunes it has automatically associated all music and video files to it and what I need to know is if I delete certain files from the i-tunes libary does this also remove them from my pc's hard-drive or only from the i-tunes libary?

It asks you when you delete whether you want to keep the file on the PC or move it to the recycle bin or trash. You can choose to delete or keep, and can tick "don't ask this question again" so that it defaults to that.

By default, you will be given a prompt when deleting an item which asks if you want to just remove it from the library or also delete it from disk. Note, you only get this prompt when looking at the entire Library view. If you are editing a playlist and delete a track from there, you don't get a prompt, but that is because it only removes it from the playlist, not from your Library.

There is another option.

If you uncheck the little box alongside the track it will still be in iTunes but won't upload it to the ipod if you do 'automatic updating' of the ipod.

I have a 'waiting room' of tracks that are unchecked but not yet deleted, JIC they turn out to be OK after all :)
