I have just started getting an error message in i-Tunes stating. Library file cannot be saved. You do not have required privileges. Does anyone know what this means?

Have you checked you have not exceeded the number of iTunes accounts you have currently in use? (Or accounts on old machines that you have not terminated?)

Log on and check your account.

There is one pc (vista os). Two i-Pods, a 64g Touch and an 8g nano. There is one library but I have 2 accounts on i-Tunes store. One U.S. and one U.K. I only get the error message when I am ripping cds. It's not on all cds or even all tracks within a cd. I might get it maybe three or four times on a cd then nother on the next few cds. I am ripping at Apple lossless. My library at the momment stands at around four and a half thousand tracks. About a third through the collection. I also have the 'let i-Tunes organise names, folders' ticked, 'make copies in media folder' ticked and 'sound check' ticked. It's not a major problem, I can't just leave the pc ripping and go do something else.

I googled ' Library file cannot be saved. You do not have required privileges.' There are loads of issues, including a virus

However, does your message say required privilages or required access privilages? It appears to be most likely due to moving files and where you have stored them.

All I can suggest is google and get reading to see which is the most likey problem.

Thanks idc. I am currently ripping some cds. I have not had the message so far. I did notice that I was logged into my U.S. account when I started the pc this evening. I changed to the U.K. account before starting to rip. I did a Kaspersky and Windows Defender scan on Tuesday night, nothing was found by them. I'll monitor and follow your suggestion.
