just chilling out with my new grado ps1000s and the graham slee solo amp installing the beatles on to itunes and can't believe how great these sound - just changed to my cheap sennheiser hd280 a sound i did like and can't believe how dull and lifeless they sound in comparison - i know not a fair comparison but they are a set i'm used to and produced a sound i always liked

this is the closest sound i have ever heard from a pair of cans to compare to a full system, great treble, deep bass and the widest soundstage ever and i know that the fubars dac probably not doing them justice now connected to the comp but wow!

not sure any thing else is now going to come close!

these headphones are pretty comfy but they are heavy and can feel my head bob whilst i'm typing so need to strengthen my neck!

I could have guessed you wouldn't like them, just send them over to me. :-D Just kidding... Good to hear you're over the moon with your new Head-fi system. Although my audition time was short (half an hour) I was extremely impressed with the musicality and impact of this phenomenal combo.

Have a great time with your new rig!

Now I have my rack and all my cans to hand, I confess that the favourites are the SR80s. The GS1000s are now top of my lottery win wishlist. Have either of you tried 'lesser' Grados? How do the 1000s compare? Do they still have that trademark attack and dynamic?

i can't comment as my first pair of grados - would never have paid full price for them as £1800 is a bit steap for a set of cans

i got them as an ex display setup so paid £1435 for the headphones, the graham slee solo, the upgrded psu1 and the cusat interconnect which I didn't think was bad really

i'm selling the sennheiser 650s on ebay and i am going to stick the little dot on as well to help pay as don't see anypoint in keeping them all as think i will only be using these from now on

Oh, I don't know. I quite like having my little amps around.

BTW, congratulations on the purchase. It would have been a real bummer if they hadn't been up to scratch.

Let me know if you need a home for those russan and mullard valves! 🙂

I have the GS1000i. I have bought the iGrados and the RS2 and have also extensively listened to the SR325is. The latter made me buy the GS1000i because the RS2s just didn't have enough detail for my taste whereas the SRs were fantastic in that respect. The RS2s had bucket loads of bass and bass weight but lacked the treble extension I like. Having said that, I listen at fairly low volumes and my friend, from whom I borrowed the SR325is, preferred the RS2s but had them at considerably higher volumes. To my ears, the SRs are very similar to the GSs without the bass extension but are some £600 cheaper. However, the biggest upgrade to my listening pleasure came from upgrading the power supply to my Naim Headline. I went from i-Supply to NAPSC to Hicap and each step made a HUGE difference, more than the change in headphones. Worth trying?

Hope this helps

had these for about a month now and not had much chance to really listen in depth - picked up the odd hour here and there whilst loading up tracks on itunes but for first time this evening actually just sat down to do nothing but listen to them and can't beleive how crystal clear these sound with levels of detail i've never noticed before - some tracks have just taken on an all new polished souns - some bad recording though are really being shown up for what they are
