Hi all,

Dont know if on right forum but is it possible to watch missed programmes using i player be it sky or itv through my tv rather than on the computer

Hopefully someone can help, kit mentioned below

As long as your TV has a PC input (or preferably an HDMI as long as your PC supports it) then that's the way to go.

I have a dedicated media PC running the latest Ubuntu O/S connected via HDMI to my trusty Sony KDL-52W4500 and it works just fine using the BBC iPlayer and ITV Player, although you do have to make allowances for the picture quality.

Where possible, I find it better to actually download the program from iPlayer first in the highest quality available, instead of streaming it direct as there is less chance of buffering, especially when watching HD material form the Beeb.
This is probably because I live in Scandinavia and have to connect via a proxy server to use these sort of services..

iPlayer can be viewed on the Wii, Playstation 3, Freesat, and Virgin Media. The new Sony Blu-ray range (starting with the BDP-S370) also supports iPlayer (this feature will be turned on via a firmware update scheduled for June)

If you have Virgin's HD service, or Freesat HD, you can also watch iPlayer in HD. The video quality is significantly better using these methods.

🙂
