I may be in the market for a Blu-Ray player soon

JoelSim:
Because my DV79 is starting to play up occasionally. Grrrrr.

What are the symptoms? Have you tried cleaning it?

Just get no picture sometimes, turn it off and on again and it;s fine. Has happened about 5 times now over the past 2 months, mind you it is used every day.

So no read errors halfway through a movie then, that would pretty much rule out a dirty lens.

Have you checked connections and cable? I would also rule out that the tv isn't faulty before buying a new BDP.

I'm looking at the new Oppo 80. I'm hoping if I just go strait out and let my Pre-Pro do the AV processing it will be good enough.

I would call Arcam direct. Unless things have changed, they are very helpful. My mate had my old A60 and the main caps went. They sent him replacements for a fiver and he soldered them in himself, which got him a few years more happy listening.

the sony 360 is very good imo , hard to beat pricewise , but if i was buying a blu-ray player today , lgbd390 , no contest , packed to the rafters with features , and only around £200...
