I have the B&W P7s should I buy the Oppo PM-1s

these new oppo headphones are getting awesome reviews and having just purchased the p7s a few months ago I'm really getting into the whole headphone thing.

going from supplied in ear buds and never owning over ear headphones 4 months ago to dropping £1099 on headphones is quite a jump.my problem is this I have the ruark r4i and all the I-products but will I find a big jump in quality going from the p7s to the oppo pm1s? All my music is apple lossless and I will also be getting the oppo amp at some point.

i will never get into 24bit music or own a high end hifi system are these headphones ment for the audiophiles with expensive separate hi fi systems.

Hi.

£1100 is an awful lot of money for a set of headphones. If you enjoy listening to music at home and can justify the price for commuting- go for it.

My iPad Air/fiio Mont Blanc/p7s and connections come to that price all together.

I am a great believer in justifying the purchase not only on the want factor, but how much it is used.

Use my portable settup for at least 2 hrs every night for reading, box sets, spotify. I use it more than I use my home cinema settup come to think of it. I have had my amp switched on to watch White House down on Monday night and before then I can't remember....

so in my case spending £329 or whatever it was on headphones is worth it.

The box is nice for oppo headphones,looks nice. I wouldn't put them to bed in it every night though, that's just me.

To summarise- if you use them buy them. There seems to be a little voice saying "that's a lot of money though".

The fundamental driver quality may be better (probably), meaning you may hear better detail somewhere, but don't forget that the P7 is a very lively sound, and the Oppo I hear is more "laid back" or "relaxed", so you could be *very* disappointed.

I would imagine there would be a huge jump in sound quality with the Oppo's as the P7's aren't particularly good.

You can also get a huge jump in sound quality over the P7's from spending £300 on a pair of Sennheiser HD600 or 650's.

That is good advice, I will have to use it too. Not only the want factor but how much it is used - good advice.

Thanks Gel. Looked back over the post and thought it was a lot of waffle lol. Seems to me that the oppo are more for home use than meant to be portable. The P7s are not that big and are a designed for apple product. Not sure about the Oppos though.

U any further on in your decision making yet??
