Are you just throw some names together? or Are they your short list?

I had a pair of JMR before and they were very good, very "sonus faber" in sound. Hyperion is not for me but classical and Jazz fan should have a demo. I don't know about the other 2 but Aurum are know to be quite wonderful in the midrange if a bit bright up top.

It's kind of a shortlist although i'm curious about ATC and PMC to.

Weird, i have read many times Aurum Cantus has a laid back top end, maybe you have heard them with the wrong amp??

Yes, i also read Hyperion is good with classical music, if they are good with that they should be musical i presume.

Although i also read that Hyperion is fast and rhytmic.

Friday i'm going to listen to the Hyperion 938 and compare them to my Wharfedale Evo 30's, the dealer is offering a good deal on his demo examples until 15 august, so i have to act fast if i like them.

The dealer has also the Opera speakers, should be good to.

Comparing Hyperion to Evo 30's would be like test drive Escort mk4 and new Audi A6 on the same day! (sorry for all Wharfy onwer out there). Which dealer is it?

Oh, the dealer is located in Belgium, i live in Belgium... I hope my English writing is ok.

Dealer: http://www.klinktbeter.be/

I bring my Wharfedale's and amp (a Dussun v8i) to the dealer just to make sure the difference is big enough with the Hyperions to justify a purchase.

I compared the Wharfy's with B&W 804's about 6 months ago and the difference was minimal, the top end was better with the B&W's but otherwise not much.

Then i rather have a Dynaudio or Spendor, at least they were good on my amp.

I'm not sure i'm gonna go out to actually listen to Emerald Physics and Aurum Cantus.

There is no dealer for these two brands in Belgium, or i should have to drive over 150 miles to the netherlands for an audition!

Today i decided to call a dealer who has JM Reynaud speakers before i go listen to the Hyperions.

The dealer brought his speakers to my home as he was going to be in my neighberhood that day for personal reasons.

These speakers were allready ahead of my wharfedales, they were clear and with space between (acoustic) instruments.

I did still like the mid/low of my wharfy's though, and they were still very musical.

The wharfy's need room to breathe while the JMR's can be close to a rear wall but with more room from the sidewall (sidewalls are most of the time a no go).

The mid/highs on the JMR's were a bit more present which i found uncomfortable first but this could be becausse im used to the wharfedale sound.

The dealer insured me with an experiment of cables, speaker placement and a solution of acoustic problems in my room i could counter these issues.

But overall the JMR was a good balanced speaker.

I hope i can imagine tommorow the JMR sound when i go listen to Hyperion in a room that might be different then mine.

I also heard benefits on his high end speaker cables from supra over my chord oddeysey... But this might be a case of matching.
