In addition it is quite bulky and does not fit under the TV. For those 2 reasons, I decided to try something else. I ended up with a Dali speaker which originally is supposed to cost almost 3 times more, I could not resist the temptation for 70 Eur to test and see how a speaker of originally 450 Eur would sound like.

the speaker yesterday and it is huge and it really looks great. However the first test so far does not seem to impress me much. It does not sound bad of course but for a speaker of that original price I was really expecting to get a BIG sound. To some extent, it feels as it only has a twitter and the voices lack the depth, focus and authority that you get in the cinema.

It is set up as Small with crossover to 60hz. If I wanted to set as large then I would have to set the diamond 9.1. also as large which is not correct.

Why do such huge speaker sound ….. small?.

Be careful with great offers of products that they could not sell at their original price…. Like we say in Spain nobody gives 10cents coins for 9cents.

What makes you think setting the speaker to "small" is incorrect?

Given you've had two speakers exhibit exactly the same behaviour I don't think you can blame the speakers any more, you have a problem elsewhere in your system.

I don't mean to be funny but it almost sounds like you're only wiring up the tweeter (HF) part of the speaker, are both speakers bi-wirable?

In general, Dali speakers tend to have relatively low sensitivity and thrive on a good slug of amp power, so it could just be that you're running the amp level to that channel too low.

Which Dali speaker is it?

It is a suite C0.7. I have meassured all levels with SPL meter and they seem balanced. It is true that the Dali is 4ohms and Wharfedale are 6ohmns but I do not know if that has any impact. Could it be that the Arcam is not enought for this speaker? I mean the speaker sounds fine and works well, no doubt but, it does not sound as BIG as it looks (not even close).

Regarding the question about the connections from previous reply yes, I have connected both. One thing I found surprising is that instead of having a standard hard metal connection between terminals they came with a piece of red and black wire to make the bridge yourseld.

Was it you that said you never got any feeling of surround sound from your system? I seem to recall at the time mentioning that changing the centre wouldn't make any difference.

It sounds to me as if all your levels are wrong, I might be inclined to reset everything to factory defaults and start again.

In which case I'd simply turn up the centre level until it has the effect you're after. But I can't help feeling the sound will be totally unbalanced across the front soundstage with the Dali and two Wharfedales.

Yes, it was me but only in the case of the non-action movies, this is, the ones with 90% dialog. This is where I was trying to achieve more cinema sound. I wanted a center which sounded bigger and with more depth and authority. I have to continue with testing this week and review all the levels.
