HTPC or Media player

Hi all,

I was planning to add a media player nameley PCH C-200 to my home theatre system, but was suggested that at the price of the C-200 + Blu-Ray drive + HDD I would be better of with an HTPC nameley AsRocks ION 300 HT BD.

I can understand the various advantages of having a small PC instead of a limited media player, but when it comes to performance will the HTPC prove to be superior to the PCH?

I've heard some good reports of the performance of ION-based PCs in comparison to standalone players, even on projectors, but have no direct experience.

I'm not sure there's be much in it but in one review measurements of the audio jitter of the PCH were very low and described as near audiophile quality.
