HRT MusicStreamer 2 and macbook

Bought a musicstreamer 2 USB dac. Sounds great with crystal clear sound but 24 bit 96khz tracks play at 44khz according to the lights on the dac. The macbook is a white 2009 intel chip. Any ideas how to get 96khz on appropriate tracks?

Open the application 'Audio MIDI Setup' and set the output format to 24/96. Ideally you would go in and change this to match the bitrates of all music on an ad hoc basis, but I'd be inclined to leave it as it is, since upsampled 16/44 material shouldn't sound any different really.

And the 96khz tracks sound really good through it. I got Steely Dans Gaucho .sounds great on HD

In the Audio MIDI set up I get a "Output is not supported" message and its greyed out. I wonder if
I need a driver for the MusicStreamer?

Found out that I needed to change the "properties for" drop down to show the dac.

Why it doesnt change automatically when you select the output device only apple knows.
