How to upscale

So I have an LG55" OLED 4K TV which is excellent. I understand that the TV upscales all the video input to 4K otherwise the picture would not fill the screen. However I ahve a Denon AVR-X4200W that has a 4k upscale option. If I enable this, to me it seems that the picture quality improves.

Should this be the case or am I imaging it and should I be using the 4K upscaler on the AV amp?

It's possible that your amp upscales better than your TV.

Before I returned my Sony tv set I had the same experience. Upscaling with by oppo Blu- ray player give me better picture Quality.

Phew. So it's not me imagining things. I think that I will leave the amp upscaling on in that case. thanks guys
