Is there 'a' way to set up a new LCD screen, i've read that some use , is it THX, to set one up, can you order this F.O.C, buy it, or do you just buy any BD or DVD that uses THX, such as Star Wars?
I'm very new to HT and so far i've become very familiar with the way components connect ect - thanks to WHF Forums, before i didn't have a clue.
Thanks.

If you have a DVD which has the THX logo - Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Monsters Inc etc then there is a good chance it will have a video set up to help with basic calibration.

My advice is to turn all processing off or to 0 such as Noise reduction, Sharpness, Black Stretch etc initially. The theory being the less processing the TV has to do, the better the picture.

For example, noise reduction may initially to give a smoother looking picture, but it robs the image of depth, gives skin an unnatural sheen and worst of all increases smearing when fast moving images are present.

What exact make and model do you have?

None yet.
But it will be a Samsung, most probably a 40" 7 series.
