how to replace tt belt

I have a Dual cs 505-2 tt. Does anybody know how the platter is removed? The booklet talks about using an "ornemental ring" I have no idea what that is!!

Any advice would be much appreciated

The 505-4 has a small collar (about inch) around the centre spindle, this has to be turned and removed to allow the platter to be lifted off. If I remember it has some small slots in it to allow you to gently move it, or you can push down lightly and turn it until it releses

Hi Gwynne, the only "collar" that I have is the adaptor that allows me to play large hole usa 45"s. Is this what you mean?

No it's under the turntable mat around the spindle.You can get an idea in the link for the manual from the Vinyl Engine, you'll need to register to view. It shows the round collar you need to remove in fig 4. Apologies to mods if there is any problem with the link regarding house rules.

Under the mat is a gadget with 3 slots. Assume this is it?

That's the one, give it a gentle turn with a bit of downward pressure.

Couldn't say much more - try not to handle the belt too much as its far too easy to leave dirt/grease on it which can affect its grip.
