How to match speakers to Amp

I have a MarantzPM4200 amp driving a pair of Acoustic Solutions AV-120 mk2 speakers. The problem is that the amp protection circuit keeps cutting in and the sound goes off. On the back of the amp it says it can drive speakers from 4-16 ohms, on the speakers it shows 4-8 ohms while amp user manual states that speakers should be 8-16 ohms any less and the protection circuit will trip.

Should this amp be able to drive the speakers?

If not, is there a device I can add between amp and speaker to match them?

I'd cut my losses and get some new speakers.
