Done that. All I do know is my voice has gone up 2 octaves. I've made the Bee Gees sound like Windsor Davis.Or put your underpants in the freezer....that should avoid any unecessary 'hanky panky' which will sap your energy! 😁

Definitely finding that a couple of cold ciders after the sun has disappeared around the side of the house are helping! Perhaps they could give this guidance nationally*?Walk the dogs early - don't avoid alcohol!

It was only 3 days FFS.😋Thank god that's over, wasn't nice at all. Many more of these over the coming years and I fear I will become a statistic.
I work permanent late-shift and a rain shower hit here about 00:30, I stripped down to my underpants and ran round the garden... thought about going naked but that was probably a bit too far. I put my antics down to heat induced insanity...It was only 3 days FFS.😋
We had a lovely thunderstorm last night. We were dancing in the rain. Plummeted 10 degrees in a few minutes.
Admittedly the one in 1976 was not quite as hot but it lasted two months....Thank god that's over, wasn't nice at all. Many more of these over the coming years and I fear I will become a statistic.
Hope you didn't dive in.....Strange really. Drove to the river, even though the actual temp was higher it felt cooler
Agreed Al, I was 18 in '76 and handled it okay as far as I remember, my mother on the other hand did not as she was 56 at the time. I'm 64 now and I don't like heat or coldAdmittedly the one in 1976 was not quite as hot but it lasted two months....

I understand, heat seems to affect elderly more than cold..... There's only so much you can take off...Agreed Al, I was 18 in '76 and handled it okay as far as I remember, my mother on the other hand did not as she was 56 at the time. I'm 64 now and I don't like heat or cold
We are certainly not adapted to survive heat in the UK. I read yesterday that when the temperature goes above 17 degrees C the death rate starts to increase! 😳I understand, heat seems to affect elderly more than cold..... There's only so much you can take off...
It certainly kills more than the cold spells.
me, I am still ok with either as I worked in Africa for a good few years and it seems to have acclimated me, still struggle occasionally though.
is that when we all go to Benidorm, get p*ssed and fall off balconies? We are certainly not adapted to survive heat in the UK. I read yesterday that when the temperature goes above 17 degrees C the death rate starts to increase! 😳

That sounds fishy to me. If true, I suspect it's because people change their activity patterns - i.e. nothing to do with temperature per se.I read yesterday that when the temperature goes above 17 degrees C the death rate starts to increase!
As we walk the dogs a lot all year round, I'm in shorts for a good chunk of the year. At least this way your legs are neither stringy nor white! This is the first year I've worn shorts as an adult.
At school the P.E. teacher said,
"You boy, what are those two white bits of string hanging out of your shorts?"
I said, "They're my legs".
Apparently so.....That sounds fishy to me. If true, I suspect it's because people change their activity patterns - i.e. nothing to do with temperature per se.
