Hi, first timer, pls be gentle. have been trying to improve my current system but dont know where to start. got nad c370 amp,b&w dm 602 s3 and 601 s2 speakers and marantz cd67mk11se. its a good sound as is but lacks bass and maybe warmth. my listen room is 15 by 15ft. do i get a power/pre-amp(no idea what the differance is),or a sub woofer or some new speakers-have been looking at b&w 603 s3.i listen to everything.i went to a local hifi shop but they made me feel even more stupid than i am which is saying something. not bothrd about home cinema. cheers.pedro

Hi, Looks like you have yourself a good system already. Here are a few things you could think about. Are your speakers currently on good stands? The NAD is powerful so you shouldn't have a power shortage. Maybe the best way to get more bass in your setup would be to either add a NAD power amp and or change the speakers to floor standing ones. This would give you a much larger sounding system. Like you said the B&W 603 S3 or B&W 684 speakers will do the job well. Maybe also worth considering the Monitor Audio RX6 speakers. Another option to consider is adding a DAC to your Marantz CDP, such as the MF VDAC or Beresford Caiman. It's hard to say whether a new cdp would help massively. I would look at speakers first. Try get your hands on some thick copper speaker cable as well if you have thin cheap stuff. Hope this helps

Also Monitor Audio RX2 speakers would be worth an audition as they have a larger 8" driver so should give you ample bass and may calm the brighness down.

Hi, thanks loads, power-amp it is.is it easy to connect the 2 amps together and should/can i run both the 602 s3 and the 603 s3 together-or will that lose the bass/warmth am looking for.I've read that mixing differant companies amps ( decent ones) together makes a better sound.I've got some alledgedly good cable coming from ebay-wireworld oasis.am afraid cant return favour of hifi knowledge coz I have none, but if you ever need travel advise am your well travelled hombre. thanks again very much

i will now definitely consider the gorgeous and raved about monitor audia rx6, just dont know if my nad c370 will still be up to the job.

Recently Dan on the forum has bought a new system comprising the Nad C355 and Monitor RX6 which he is very pleased with. So I reckon the Nad C370 should be fine as it's even more powerfull. Be careful with the volume though as the RX6's have a recommended amp requirement of 40-125w RMS. They have power handling of 125W RMS and they are pretty sensitive at 90dB.

Yup

The NAD C370 will be more thaqn capable of driving the M/A RX6's very well indeed; it'd do well with the M/A RX2's as well.

I demo'd both and they are both superb. The reason I went for the RX6's is that by the time you've got the RX2's in gloss black and then added decent stands; youre very close to the same price the RX6's would be and they take up the same footprint...

Just the RX6's go deeper

I think in the long run the NAD will do itself justice so consider the M/A speakers and also consider a change in CDP as well as speaker cable and interconnects

before spending money on new amps or speakers try any (free) 'tweeks' to your existing system. i have b&w 601 s2 with a nad c325bee and they have plenty of warmth and bass. try moving the speakers around a bit, placement can make a lot of difference. if you still want more bass i would consider getting a sub before a new amp or speakers.

also, what is your room like? ie... wooden floors or carpet? lots of empty wall space for the sound to bounce off? i found adding a rug, a few scatter cussions and fabric wall hangings made a big difference to the sound in my living room.
