Anybody know what years Arcam produced the orginal Alpha? ie the one that shared some parts from a Phillips model.

I can't tell you when Arcam produced the Alpha, but I can tell you I bought mine over 22 years ago, and it's still going strong *drinks*

Nice, I purchased mine a much more recent 16 years ago, though it was a second hand purchase.

There are some numbers and bar code 011979. surely not that old?!?

Doesnt quite tally with the barcode, 011979 which I assume means January 1979, I cannot see another date on the back of the unit. Anybody else have one of these they can look at?

I think that the first CD was released in 1984, so I doubt that the CD player was manufactured 5 years earlier.

The number on mine is 014788, so it doesn't look like they refer to a date of manufacture. Might be worth dropping Arcam a quick e-mail.
