Hey

I was watching madagascar 2 with the kids and I had to crank the volume to hear it clear, but BOB was great.

My amp goes to 80, but find myself going to about 50 on most movies.

Is this normal?

Nice one

Mine is set to default at 60. Perfect for all my movies. Goes up to 99.

mine is usually at -38db for normal use and -28 db for blu ray dts ma tracks as they seem quietier.

my amp goes upto +23 and down to -92 which is really helpful !!!!

thanks sony for there rubbish volume numbering control

why carnt they do 1 to 100 is beyond me, maybe someone who works there is really sad and inadequate and like to feel special / mentally unstable

I watch Blu-Rays around -25db. At that level dialogue is pretty loud but when an explosion or something kicks in it is deafening!

Do you really need a 1-100 scale for your volume? Don't your ears just tell you if it is too loud, or indeed, not loud enough?

I agree, you should always let your ears to the listning, but if you are saying something to someone, and say something like.... Yeh got this bad boy turned up to -23, that just sounds dumb.

Or you could say, got it up to 60 before the neighbours came a knockin, that sounds a bit butter, dont cha think?

I don't have neighbours - I can go as loud as I want!

My yamaha goes -80db to 16.5db. Strangely 0db is half volume (on the visable scale). -30db is normal volume, -20db for dolby digital, -16db for blu-ray. Then again I have no neighbours, it's a very big room, and I am deaf (most people prefer 5 or 10db less than me!)

Cofnchtr:Hi,My Yamaha goes from -78 to + 7.5 go figure.Usual listening is -40 to -30 depending on desired effect.Cheers,Cofnchtr.

Well I'd disagree with that, my usual listening temperature is -24-28. Depends on the listener I guess...
