Gel likes to be walked through every single process involved when first using one of the many pieces of AV equipment he buys. I think he probably knows roughly what to do most of the time, but is seeking reassurance from people on here that he is doing it correctly.

It is quicker to start a thread and ask a question on here than to research and understand the process himself, and even then he would probably check here first that that is the right way to do it.

There's no point in getting worked up about his posts, I find them quite entertaining! *smile*

Nugget and Gel. Please don't contribute to each other's posts and when contributing to other people's posts, then please don't get into an argument. We are on a social network and every one in the world can see this bickering...

thankyou and peace to all!
Here here.

Pedant alert, Gel, you should have said "Hear hear", not "Here here". That's what they say in Parliament, for instance.

On the broader topic of your incessantly asking people on this forum how to do (even apparently the most basic) things, Gel, have you ever heard of google???

Okay, I have been watching 4K videos through YouTube, it's amazing. What a TV! Don't worry about NetFlix this is good enough for me. Cheers.

i really don't get this. If you wanted Netflix how can YT possibly replace it, unless you just want bling bling clips.

this will be my last post on one of your many, many threads. let me say gel, you are the most unique person i have EVER come across on any internet forum believe it or not, here's why..

you need to tell the world EVERYTHING that happens in your life, maybe you are an oversharer, want to feel smug about having more money than everyone else or just want to show off in whatever way. good for you, secondly i have never seen someone who spends so much on electronics including phones/headphones/tv's/tablets etc and not have the foggiest how to even use it's basic functions. you literally make 20 threads a fortnight asking for help on the most trivial things such as connecting a usb to the tv and getting it to work, downloading a file on the computer or how to even get netflix working. Maybe if you spent 1 hour less a day looking at TV reviews/prices and researched on how to help yourself when it comes to home cinema so you dont have to constantly ask people every day it might prove useful. whatever the name of the condition you have is you cannot be helped, if 10 people telling you NOT to do something but you do it anyway who can help you? sonofsj and bigboss the most notable examples of trying to give you sound advice (i have also a few times) "get a life" yourself and stop arguing with people on the internet, calling people trolls and reporting people. it makes you look pathetic.

you can try and find me starting to troll on your threads if you wish to prove me wrong. but i guarantee i have never trolled on your threads. you were quick to start on me (and then norman) acting like a 12 year old calling out on a forum. and re-evaluate everything you do. Feel free to report this post like you always do but this is the truth. oh and what hifi can see it now? they will also see everything you have been saying along the way. no offence but i dont know how old you are but spending this amount of money you won't be moving out for a VERY long time. i call this farewell gel. hope this makes you think about your ways to cut spam on this forum and improve your behaviour. and to be honest, i couldn't care less if you report me..

to anyone who thinks i am wrong for saying this, gel started it all and he needs to learn he can't act like this forever. for everything he has done against me including making that thread, i have had enough of his rubbish and he needs to sort himself out.

Abslutely 100 percent +1.

Yes!!

When Netflix first arrived on the scene we had a fairly slow broadband connection. It worked but we could only use it on one TV at a time and even then it would "buffer". (I.E. pause) quite a bit. With faster broadband that went away.
I would say a wired Ethernet connection is best, rather than wifi, as wired is a lot faster. Maybe your wifi isn't up to snuff, I don't know.
Also, if you can't figure out getting your TV to connect to Netflix, you can always try connecting via a wifi / Ethernet enabled BDP.
Hope this helps.
Otherwise, go back to where you bought the TV and get the shop to go through it with you, or get the ten year old kid down the street to do it - those kids could work for GCHQ ;-)

PS we ditched cable / satellite entirely and now just use Netflix, Hulu and HBO Now (via an Amazon Fire box for each TV). Saves us about 200 POUNDS a month in cable fees, set top box rentals, etc.
Oh, and enjoy your new TV!

I'm with gel.

Posting stuff up does no harm, and gel might discover something someone else has been considering, or having trouble with, or whatever. It's all about sharing information and a dmaned sight more useful than endless debates about the relative values of HDMI / RCA / co-ax / fibre optic / speaker cables.

And if gel wants to spend his money changing out his TV every six weeks so bloody what? It's his money, his passion, and he's sharing his experiences so that others, who might be considering the same kit as he's using (or just upgraded), can be informed.
